Jesse White’s paintings, mixed-media work and words reflect her raw, human experiences and the spirituality that guides her through. She finds faith in creating; the act of writing or painting, a prayer. “As I collaborate with the Creator, I know I will be carried through to the completion of the piece.” Jesse finds creating to be both cathartic and restorative. Spiritually, Jesse feels called to speak from her experiences and it is through lifting her creative voice that she hopes others will hear something of the Spirit as well.
A creative risk-taker, Jesse’s newest series explores the use of found objects in a narration about pain, prayer, health and healing. Other pieces in the exhibition render a girl dancing under a street lamp in the rain at night, an artist at the point of clarity in her creative process and an abstract expression of anger at the power of misconception.
Jesse hosts a drop-in open art studio Sunday evenings at the A-Space through her organization, Pigeon Arts. This pay-what-you-can program strives to strengthen creative community while guiding artists and writers to create with integrity and self-awareness.
